Some interesting facts about fire hydrants:
- Brand new fire hydrants usually have only a one year warranty (some have three).
- Some older hydrants such as the Big Lawson and the Lawco-500 should be replaced and put in a museum.
- Private fire hydrants have a designated body colour of RED in the Ottawa area. Contact us today if you are not sure if you own the fire hydrant on your property.
- All hydrants are required to have a colour code of blue, green, orange, or red tops and caps. See the Ontario Fire Code. If it's white/yellow it hasn't been colour coded yet.
- A black top means the fire hydrant is out of service.
