Fire Hydrant and Water Main Valve Inspections and Maintenance

Main Valve Seat Print E-mail

The main valve seat is a large metal ring (usually brass) with threads that screw into the main valve seat casing in most hydrants.  The main valve seat is designed to seal the main valve disc to prevent the flow of water into the barrel when the hydrant is closed.

This particular component needs to be removed when performing a complete restoration in order to replace the main valve disc.  If this main valve seat is improperly removed or reinstalled when restoring the fire hydrant, damage can occur to certain components and make it very difficult to seal the fire hydrant properly.

Our licensed technicians are experienced enough to identify deficiencies in the main valve seat to ensure the safe operation of the fire hydrant in case of a fire.  Please contact us today if your fire hydrant is leaking.
