Fire Hydrant and Water Main Valve Inspections and Maintenance

Pumper / Hose Nozzle Cap Print E-mail

The fire hydrants in Ontario are almost all dry barrel hydrants, which means that there should be no water in the barrel of the hydrant when not in operation.  The caps not only serve as outlet covers for fire fighting purposes, but also prevent debris and water from entering the interior of the hydrant.

In the interest of public safety, please DO NOT remove these caps.  If you see caps missing on your hydrants, please give us a call.  If there is debris inside the barrel and the hydrant is used during fire fighting operations, this may cause damage to fire fighting equipment and could seriously hinder the fire department's ability to fight the fire (on one occasion we found large chains inside a fire hydrant).

Our qualified technicians are specialists in hydrant operation and flushing and will be happy to take a look at your hydrants for any deficiencies and repair them.  Contact us today for more information on our services.
